The NBA bubble was a commendable success, the Los Angeles Lakers have been crowned as champions, and now the waiting game begins. As of now there is no official start date for the 2020-21 season, and we don’t know exactly when free agency will kick off, but at long last the offseason is finally here.

Even in a normal year, the current crop of free agents wouldn’t be particularly exciting — especially compared to the frenzy of 2019 — and with the uncertain financial future of the NBA hanging in the balance, we could see very few large contracts handed out prior to next season.

The biggest deal will likely go to big man Anthony Davis, who will reportedly decline his player option for next season and sign a new contract with the Lakers. The next name on the list, Brandon Ingram, is a restricted free agent whom the New Orleans Pelicans will likely retain no matter the cost, which makes breakout Toronto Raptors star Fred VanVleet the top available name on the list.

Besides Davis, who is likely off the table, this class lacks the star power of last year’s cadre, and it’s easy to see why teams were eager to save up money for the 2019 spending spree, and for the forthcoming 2021 class. Here’s a glance at this offseason’s NBA free agency options.
