What’s your TV news reality? We watched 4 networks and then took a look at BBC World News – The News Leader

It’s a rainy early morning on Thursday and news networks across the country are focused on two things: the Presidential Election and COVID-19.

But how these four TV news networks interpret both and other news depends on which channel you happen to be looking at while you’re sitting down with your first cup of coffee.

We picked four news stations based on a top 10 list of the most watched TV networks in the U.S. Here’s a snapshot of CNN, MSNBC, Fox News and CBS from 6 a.m to 6:10 a.m. We observed each for two minutes in no particular order.

After we finished watching the news and drinking our first cup of coffee, we nearly spit out our second cup when we took a look at what BBC World News thinks of America these days. While our country is “entering COVID hell,” people in other parts of the world can pass the time finding out what President Donald Trump thinks of them.

Check it out:

CNN NEWS ANCHOR: “Six o’clock here in New York and overnight President-elect Joe Biden announced his first major decision of his incoming administration, naming Ron Klain as Chief of Staff. Klain is hugely respected by both Democrats and Republicans. He has vast Washington experience, including coordinating the response to the 2014 Ebola outbreak. That’s of obvious importance given the coronavirus pandemic, which this morning is just exploding to new levels.

“Michael Osterholm, on the President-elect’s advisory board, says we are now entering COVID hell. More than 144,000 new cases. That’s a record. More than 65,000 people hospitalized. That’s a record. Which is a huge jump overnight. Hospitals in Wisconsin, Mississippi, Oklahoma and Tennessee all nearing capacity.

“So what has outgoing President Donald Trump said about this? Not a thing. Not a thing. Not a single word said out loud in public on the pandemic in a week. To be fair, he hasn’t said a single word out loud in public since last Thursday. Why? What’s wrong? Could it be embarrassment over his defeat? Could it be lack of a cogent argument for why he’s blocking transition? Could it be that he has too many shows saved up on TiVo? Hate watching cable news is no excuse to skip president-ing during a pandemic. Why fight so hard to keep the job if you’re not going to bother to do it?

“The outgoing Trump administration continues to obstruct the incoming vital transition overnight. CNN learned that the State Department is preventing Biden from accessing messages from foreign leaders and Biden is still not receiving high level intelligence briefings. Now, one Republican Senator says he will intervene if President-elect Biden does not get the presidential daily briefing by tomorrow.”

MSNBC NEWS ANCHOR: “Votes: one by one by one, Arizona. And finally after counting one vote a day, they came to the conclusion, the Secretary of State out there, as well as Dave Watson, that Arizona is all over. Yes, yes, I know, I know. Fox News and the Associated Press called Arizona for Joe Biden in the summer of ’76. But now, everybody else is doing it. Arizona is over.

“And they’re doing hand recounts in Georgia? But as Karl Rove wrote in the Wall Street Journal, that race is over. Pennsylvania is over. Nobody wins recounts when losing by this much.

“So, I just want to say again, what we’ve been saying for years, when you think Donald Trump and the Republican Party is getting away with this: Getting away with anything. You’ve got to avert yourself from the smoke bombs going off on stage in the shock opera, and just look at the day.

“You want to know what the data shows me? Shows me that for all the failures of the Democratic Party and Congressional races and Senate races and state legislative races. And after all the weeping and gnashing of teeth are finished in that area, look at the presidential race, and what historians are going to see when they look at that map, is they’re gonna see a map where Democrats rebuilt the blue wall across the upper Midwest. They shattered the solid South by going straight to the heart of Dixie, which is not Alabama, but instead, Georgia, the Peach State.”

FOX NEWS ANCHOR: “The President got news yesterday, because in Arizona, the campaign Trump picked up almost 1,200 votes as they counted another 13,000. But in that state, Joe Biden still leads by 11,000, with 25,000 more to count.

“It all comes down to, can they find widespread corruption and voter fraud? And that really is what it’s all about. When you hear about all these lawsuits, for instance, they say that probably involves 150 ballots.

“When you hear about non-residents voting, as it turns out, there are a number of military spouses who are in other states and voted in Nevada. And that is part of the story behind the story.

“So, nonetheless, for instance, down in Georgia, we’re going to have the Secretary of State with us here in about 10 minutes, they’re going to have a manual hand count. First time they’ve ever done this particular kind of system before. They’re going to look at each and every page and make sure it’s exactly the vote as it was counted on Election Day.

“And that’s important because native of Georgia, Newt Gingrich says, ‘It’s all about faith.'”

NEWT GINGRICH: “Something like 70% of the Republicans in this country do not believe this is an honest election. The only way you can heal that is to go back through in all the key states that are in doubt and methodically count the ones. And have hand counts.

“What the Secretary of State of Georgia doing is exactly right. If, at the end, they don’t find very many votes, then, then Biden will have carried Georgia. But everybody will then know that it was a fair and accurate election.

“At the present time, a vast number of Americans do not believe that and think that frankly, they’re being railroaded.”

CBS NEWS ANCHOR: “Smoke could be seen coming from the second floor. The Oscar winner’s press representative says there is no fire and everyone is okay and safe. Fire officials say that they are investigating one of several furnaces in the home that may have been recently serviced.

“So, coming up on CBS Morning News Now, the first Caribbean cruise since the coronavirus shutdown had to end its trip early. And ruffling feathers. A turkey is accused of harassing residents of a Boston neighborhood. This is the CBS Morning News.

“President and Vice president took part in the Veterans Day ceremonies yesterday at Arlington National Cemetery. It was the President’s first public appearance for official business in more than a week.

“President-elect Joe Biden and his wife Jill marked Veterans Day by laying a wreath during ceremonies at the Philadelphia Korean War Memorial.

“A turkey is accused of harassing people and a cruise had to end early. Those are some of the headlines on the morning newsstand.

“The Orlando Sentinel reports the first Caribbean cruise to set sail since the pandemic shut down was cut short when a passenger tested positive for the coronavirus. SeaDream Yacht Club’s SeaDream One had to return to its home port in Barbados after setting sail on Saturday. There were 53 passengers and at least 63 crew members. All passengers had to be quarantined in their cabins as the ship returned.”
