Springstead announced on Jan 15 the November athletes of the month. They are Junior, Alivia Gabbard who is a member of their Girls Varsity Soccer, Golf, and Track teams. And Junior, Devin Salazar who is a captain on the Varsity Soccer team as well as the kicker for the Football team.
On Jan 15 The Leopard wrestling team advanced to the state regional finals against Palm Bay High School in Osceola- Jan. 22 & 23. Hernando took care of business in the FHSAA quarterfinals and semi-finals defeating Atlantic Port Orange 63-12 in the quarterfinals and then beat Weeki Wachee in the semi-finals 66-9 after the Hornets defeated Palatka 36-33.
The Lady Leopard weightlifting team almost pulled the upset in the Gulf Coast 8 Conference championships held at Weeki Wachee High School on Jan 13. Hernando finished with 39 points on the day. Nature Coast and Lecanto finished tied with 41 apiece. Senior Bre Mobley and Sophomore Hannah Taylor won the conference championship in their respective weight classes. Kimberly Lam, Kali Christie and Amelia Bunting finished second in their weight classes.
For SHS weightlifting, Gianna Sheppard won the GC8 Conference Championship in the 101lb weight class with a 200lb total! Also, Arianna Durrum won the GC8 Conference Title in the 110lb weight class with an impressive 240lb total!
